School of Social Sciences

The BSc in Public Health is a School of Social Sciences, is a programme in the Department of Community Development, Psycho-social and Behavioral Sciences intended to produce multidisciplinary professionals who are capable of designing and implementing disease prevention, health promotion, and environmental hazards prevention programmes that address complex public health care issues, in their countries. This programme aims to provide those registered in it with an opportunity to develop relevant competencies that will enable them to work in the field of public health as public health practitioners, researchers, health policy developers, and educators in an effort to protect and improve the health of individuals, families and communities locally and internationally. The program intends to produce practitioners with capacity to engage in the three core functions of public health, and to demonstrate an understanding, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation capacity on the 10 essential health services of public health for populations in the local, regional and international contexts.
