Welcome to Botswana Open University (BOU) and thank you for browsing through our website. We are excited to present to you the key tenets that propel our University as well as comprehensive information on our operations. Every immense journey starts with a single step and advances by winning different hurdles with self-confidence. BOU is committed to a long-term vision that is espoused in its 2036 Strategic Framework that articulates its roadmap to a knowledge-based economy through life-long learning. The Framework projects an innovative Open University globally recognised for academic excellence, lifelong learning and societal impact. Our ODL principles of access, inclusivity, relevance, flexibility, quality and affordability inherently make us a mass university uniquely positioned to respond to access gaps and present life-long opportunities.
For the next four (4) years, the University is working on its capacity to radiate the efficiency and effectiveness of its processes and systems through utilisation of technology, strong research and innovative teaching methods. This website purports to signal our technological inclination and as an invitation to our creative space. We are committed, herein, to share with you the BOU’s experience that will meet the desires and purposes of your visit. We are a relatively new University and currently our specialisations are in the faculties of education, business studies, social sciences and Science and technology. As evidenced by our growing enrolments, you will find that the courses the University offers are in great demand by students here at home. More importantly, our ODL learning and teaching methodologies are highly student-centred and problem-based. It is our resolve to grow our offer into other disciplines and have overt presence in the international space.
