Godson Gatsha is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor - Student Services at the Botswana Open University (BOU). He has previously held a number of positions in higher education institutions. He was in the recent past, Director of the Centre for In-Service and Continuing Education (CICE) at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN). He has previously, worked at the Botswana Open University (BOU) as Director of the Centre for Research and Innovation, Director SADC-CDE-Centre for Distance Education, ODL Regional Manager, Manager Academic Registry and Learner-Tutor Coordinator at BOU.

Godson, has also been privileged to serve internationally as a SADC ODL Technical Advisor in Malawi and Education Specialist, Higher Education at the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Vancouver, Canada. His work as Director of SADC-CDE and as Education Specialist, Higher Education included working with and supporting Higher Education Ministries and Higher Education Institutions by way of facilitating the undertaking capacity building in ODL systems, Policies, Quality Assurance, Online Learning, Open Educational Resources, Development of Self-Learning Materials, Research and Publication. His work has seen him promoting the adoption and expansion of Open Distance and e-Learning in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Has facilitated the development of ODL policies, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement in a number of universities including Mzuzu University in Malawi, Eswatini University, National University of Lesotho, Jaffna University in Sri Lanka, TACC College in Grenada, Guyana University, Copperbelt University in Zambia, University of South Africa and facilitated the development of National ODL Policies and Standards in a number of countries including the Seychelles, the Maldives Qualifications Authority, Eswatini, Lesotho Council of Higher Education and Botswana.

Godson is an Open Distance Learning Practitioner, ODL Policy expert, Education Consultant, Research Manager, ODL systems expert, with a strong focus on learning support for diverse students. He has a strong passion for supporting students from marginalised communities and those in difficulty circumstances.

Godson Gatsha has attained most of his qualification through ODL. He read for his PhD in Education Policy Studies from the University of Pretoria, whilst working at BOU Kang Regional Campus in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana. Godson also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education and an MA in Distance Education both from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), an MEd in Educational Management and a Diploma in Accounting and Business Studies (DABS) both from the University of Botswana (UB), a BEd, BA, and a Higher Education Diploma (HED) all from the University of South Africa (UNISA), a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Stellenbosch University-South Africa, a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from Rhodes University-South Africa, a Certificate in Education from University of Zimbabwe, a Certificate in Gender in Our Everyday Lives from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and a Graduate Diploma in Leadership in ICT and Knowledge Society from Dublin City University in Ireland.
