Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is responsible for the provision of strategic human resources functions of the University and currently situated at Head Office in the Corporate Services Section of the University reporting directly to the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Corporate Services. The department has the following Units;

Mission

To transform the Human Resources Department into a strategic HR function and business partner of the University to ensure delivery of quality human resources management systems to enable the University to realise/ achieve its strategic goals.

Functions

The Department is charged with attainment of the following responsibilities, among others;

  • To Formulate, review and implement HR policies, procedures and practices including guidelines for decentralized HR operations that would enable the University to attract, retain, motivate and reward suitably qualified, experienced staff.
  • To promote organisational climate, which will encourage a culture of teamwork (Collegiality), Customers Service and performance excellence in order to become a high performing organisation (HPO)
  • To undertake human resources forecasting and planning in collaboration with the appropriate recruitment and planning committees of the university.

  • Industrial/Employee Relations - to facilitate a professional working environment, development and implementation of health and safety standards in the workplace in order to ensure compliance with national health and safety standards.
