The School of Social Sciences at Botswana Open University offers one undergraduate and two Masters programmes, delivered on line through its three departments being:
While the approach to programme design and delivery in this school is mainly multidisciplinary, room is provided for its cognates of interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity. This allows each of the departments to remain within their distinct traditional subfields of the social sciences. At the same time this accords the school an opportunity to maintain the nature of the discipline of social sciences as a bridge between the science and Humanities. Through research from this school, both the tutors and students have fertile ground to critically interrogate the taken for granted foundations of their professional knowledge and do so from multiple perspectives. With this the school of Social Sciences aims to lay a strong foundation for the pursuit of the Sustainable development agenda that effectively recognises the interconnectedness of the world and issues that concern it
