The Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSc-PH) programme is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to prevent disease, promote health, and improve population health outcomes. The programme adopts a multidisciplinary approach, integrating key areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, health promotion, health education, and health systems management. Through this integrated framework, graduates are prepared to contribute to essential public health functions, including monitoring population health status, identifying and assessing health risks, informing and empowering communities, mobilizing multisectoral partnerships, developing and implementing health policies, enforcing public health laws and regulations, facilitating access to health services, strengthening the public health workforce, and conducting monitoring and evaluation of health programmes.

Programme Duration

  • The programme duration for candidates admitted with a BGCSE certificate shall be a minimum of four (4) years and a maximum of six (6) years.
  • The programme duration shall be a minimum of two (2) years for candidates holding a diploma in health science disciplines or related fields. Qualifying candidates may be exempted from up to 40% of the programme courses in accordance with the BOU Policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT).
