Certificate in Vocational Education and Training

The programme aims to train professionals who lack qualifications in pedagogical skills related to teaching learning and assessment. These could be experts with knowledge and content about the subject matter. However, some lack the necessary skills to train, impart knowledge and assess training. The trainers’ course intent is to close this gap, designed for instructors, training specialists and others who deliver presentations in a training environment, and for the potential trainers to demonstrate competency in developing learning materials, lesson facilitation and assessment of learners.

Programme Duration

Two Semesters, Maximum 4 semesters

Programme Requirements

  • Minimum Entry requirement for this programme is Certificate IV, NCQF level 4
  • A Diploma/Degree in any field.
  • Through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Any one with proven competence in any vocational area through RPL/RCC assessment system, Certificate in any field with at least 3 years teaching/training experience.

Semester 1

  • Unit 1: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ETVE511)
  • Unit 2: Developing Learning Materials (EDTM511)
  • Unit 3: Producing a Lesson Plan (EPL511)
  • Unit 4: Determine Training Methods & Techniques (EDTM511)
  • Unit 5: Assessment and Assessment Instruments (EAA511)

Semester 2

  • Unit 6: Assess Candidates Against Standards (EAC512)
  • Unit 7: Facilitation of a Training Session (EFL512)
  • Unit 8: Evaluation of a Training Session (EET512)
  • Unit 9: Evidence-based Portfolio (EPOT512)
