Introduction
The Office of Academic Registry is based at Headquarters and falls under the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Services.
Main Function of the Office of Academic Registry
To formulate and maintain learner admission and assessment policies, processes and procedures for University programmes to ensure the achievement of academic standards and quality of the University awards.
Key Functions of Office of Academic Registry

- Formulation of student recruitment and enrolment policies and monitoring compliance thereof
- Formulation of student assessment policies and related procedures and monitoring adherence to such
- Formulation of student academic record policies and related procedures and monitoring adherence to such
- Establish and implement policy framework for prior learning
- Development and maintenance of University Academic Calendar
- Maintenance of learner academic complaints and appeals
- Maintenance of learner personal and academic records
- Logistical arrangements for quality assurance of assessment processes
- Oversight responsibility for conferment and certification
- Establishes participation, progression and throughput rates in University programmes to aid in decision making or any interventions needed
- Provision of Secretarial services to Departmental, School Boards and Senate – not sustainable? Refer to Profile
- Liaison with relevant regulatory and accreditation bodies to ensure compliance –function of Centre for CTLQA
- Data returns to external bodies and institutions for strategic planning
